New Feature in Pokemon GO Makes Raids Easier with Friends

Pokemon GO has introduced a new feature aimed at enhancing the raid experience by making it easier for players to join their friends in raid battles. This update allows players to view which friends are actively participating in raids and join them, offering an additional boost of support for tackling large-group raids and capturing rare Pokémon.

Raids have been a part of Pokemon GO since the summer of 2017, introduced to encourage physical activity and promote community engagement. Over the years, Niantic has made several adjustments to improve the raid system, and this new feature furthers that goal by fostering closer connections between players. Now, players can check their friends list to see which of their in-game friends are currently in a raid and join them if there's an open spot.

To use the feature, players can navigate to the Friends tab in their Trainer Profile, sort their list under the "At a Raid" option, and see which friends are actively involved in a raid. By selecting a friend's name, they can view details about the raid, including the number of trainers already in the queue. If there’s room and the player has a Remote Raid Pass, they can simply tap the Battle button to join the raid.

This new feature is primarily designed for players who wish to join raids from a distance, using Remote Raid Passes. Players in close proximity can still use a regular Raid Pass to join raids together. However, certain types of raids, such as Shadow Raids and Elite Raids, will not be available through this method. Additionally, players can choose to hide their raid activity from their friends and won't be able to invite others to join a raid if they enter through the friends list.

Niantic has also acknowledged an issue where players are unable to rejoin raids after leaving or experiencing a network error. This problem will be addressed in a future update, and any players who feel they’ve lost a Raid Pass due to this issue can submit a support ticket to have it replaced.
